Aluminum sulfate (chemical formula: Al2(SO4)3) is a widely used industrial reagent that is often confused with alum. Aluminum sulfate is commonly used as a flocculant in purified drinking water and wastewater treatment equipment, as well as in the paper industry. Naturally, aluminum sulfate almost never exists as anhydrous salts. It forms a series of hydrates, of which aluminium sulphate hexahydrate is the most common. Aluminum sulfate is also an effective mollusk insecticide, killing Spanish slugs.Aluminium sulfate is a white rhombic crystalline powder with a density of 2.71g/mL (25ºC). In the paper industry as rosin gum, wax emulsion and other glue precipitate agent, water treatment as a flocculant, but also can be used as foam fire extinguisher retention agent, manufacturing alum, aluminum white raw materials, petroleum decolorization, deodorant, some drugs raw materials.

Use1. The first largest use is paper sizing agent, accounting for about 50% of the total production of aluminum sulfate, the second largest use is in drinking water, industrial water and industrial wastewater treatment as flocculant, accounting for about 40% of the total production of aluminum sulfate. Or the production of artificial gems and other aluminum salts, such as potassium alum, refined aluminum sulfate raw materials. In addition, aluminum sulfate is also widely used in high quality clarifying agent, oil deodorization and decolorization agent, concrete waterproof agent, advanced paper forging white, titanium dioxide after film treatment and catalyst carrier production.2.
